Is anyone watching Roots on BET this weekend?

If so, Gamma Xi Phi Professional Arts Fraternity welcomes you to "follow along" on Pinterest as we share facts and stories about the actors of Roots on our pinboard, titled Everybody was in Roots.

In case you didn't know, Roots is an American television miniseries based on Alex Haley's novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family, which aired on ABC in 1977. Roots received 36 Emmy Award nominations, winning nine. It also won a Golden Globe and a Peabody Award. I remember watching Roots with my family when it first aired. It was indeed groundbreaking.

I remember when it aired too. I was just a kid but it made a strong impression on me. To this day I get chills thinking about LeVar Burton's performance. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, this time from an adult perspective.

There is a Roots reunion on The View right now.

Tomorrow night on PBS, they are airing an episode of Pioneers of Television dealing with Miniseries. The first part will be about Roots.
