Recruitment Event Ideas, please?
 

Hey guys! So I'm the VP of Recruitment for my fraternity and I've been in charge of recruitment for about a semester and a half. This is my first time as VP of Recruitment for our schools Spring recruitment. At my school we have deferred recruitment, so freshmen and transfers aren't allowed to go through recruitment until after their first semester, so Spring Recruitment is a big deal, and it's usually the one with the biggest classes.

I want to bring in a lot of quality men, The usual new member class is about 12-15 for IFC recruitment, and I want to get at least 20. (I go to a small university in Virginia). My school has a lot of rules and regulations we're to follow, like for one, we are not allowed to partner up with a sorority that PNM's may be at.

Do any of you have some ideas for events that have been an asset to your intake? I would love to hear them.

So far I have a Poker Night, Breakfast for Dinner, Movie Night, Formal Open House, etc planned, but I need a lot more. We're asked to have an event every weekday for two weeks.

Sporting events like college basketball games are good too. You can talk more easily with guests during sports than during a movie night. Would a philanthropy event go over at your school?

Bar-b-que night, Pizza and pro-sport night(rushees come over to watch a pro football or basketball game with you and you serve pizza, wings and soft drinks. Or take rushees to Buffalo Wild Wings or the equivalent(if you have one in your town).

Whatever you do, make sure the brothers talk with the rushees and don't just hang out and talk with each other. If you do have an event at Buffalo Wild Wings or another location, contact rushees ahead of time and offer to pick them up. It can be intimadating to walk into an event where all the brothers know each other and you don't know anyone.
