Miss Universe 2012

Pageant just starting. Stunning girls in way way WAY short dresses. I am afraid we are going to catch somebody's "biscuit" with the wrong camera angle!

(sorry, that term from Honey Boo Boo won't get out of my head :o)

ETA: oops, sorry 2012 pageant, not 2013)

Brunettes from Norway & Switzerland are unexpected...

I want Miss USA to eat a sammich. Her sternum and ribs and hips are way too boney. She is very hard looking.

Miss Mexico is simply gorgeous and very natural looking.

Miss South Africa has an interesting face. Pretty and unusual features.

I LOVE Miss Russia's hair. So long and bouncey!

My vote is for Miss Mexico or for Miss Philippines.

(I don't usually watch these things, but got sucked in somehow.)

UofISigKap 12-19-2012 10:59 PM

How did Miss Philippines NOT win? I must have missed part of the competition.

I was rooting for Miss Australia. I'm okay with the results though.

thetalady 12-19-2012 11:09 PM

I had every bet on Miss Brazil, with Australia at 1st runner up. Brazil even had a good answer to her question. Miss USA... what the hell was she babbling about? Fighting with her siblings as her regret? shake head. HATED her awful red dress & bun hair style. Can't believe she won, although she is a lovely young woman.

I looked and saw that Olivia Culpo is a student at Boston University. Any known Greek affiliation?

I agree about Miss USA's dress...it was too low-cut and too voluminous. I liked her hair, though.

Did anyone else notice the contestant teetering during the non-top 10 evening gown "parade"...she almost fell. She recovered with a smile and shrug, but the contestant behind her gave her a scornful glare...no "Miss Congeniality" there. With the shoes those girls were wearing, I suspect that some of them would probably like those hideous sorority pumps from that thread a couple weeks ago.

Ms. USA's Boob Glue

I swear Ms. USA's dress was so cut. Her girls looked like they were put in that dress so that wrong move and it was instant wardrobe malfunction. She must have had boob glue from hell.

Stupid answer to her question. She was so not ready for that. Just lie about something, okay? Say that you will never eat some food from a foreign country that contains milk because you are lactose intolerant. Sure, you loved it, but, you will never do it again.

IrishLake 12-20-2012 12:28 AM

Yeah, her answer was horrible, especially since the question was "What's your biggest regret?" She started out well enough... then started babbling about picking on her siblings.... and then ended with "But I don't regret it!!!"

Miss Philippines got hosed.

I didn't see it, but here's a picture that shows Miss USA's hair. It's just like that of the 2011 winner!

ASUADPi 12-20-2012 05:46 PM

First off, those final questions are dumb in the first place and the judges don't listen to them. I missed the pageant last night but in previous years the winners state an answer that has NOTHING to do with the questions, they just are rambling crap.

What annoys me is all the people claiming "oh USA won because the pageant was in Las Vegas". If that was the case, USA would have won back in 2010, when it was in Vegas and 2006, when it was in L.A. In fact since 2003 (obviously not counting this year), not one winner was from the country that the pageant was held in. So the logic doesn't prove true.

Not having watched the pageant, I'm not sure if she deserved to win, but being an American, I'm like "woo hoo".

I didn't watch much of the show but my first impressions were the shoes were HORRENDOUS and the hair extensions were even worse. And there was some serious skin bleaching going on. I got used to seeing lots of bleached skin in Dubai and I find it really off-putting.

IrishLake 12-20-2012 08:01 PM

DubaiSis, what is skin bleaching???

That's what I was thinking?

It sounds like someone dumping a bottle of bleach all over their body.

Tulip86 12-20-2012 08:38 PM

In some countries women (and men sometimes) use special bleaching products to make their skin lighter, as lighter skin is perceived to be more desirable. Those products can be quite dangerous.
