Blue cords turned purple???
 

For 5 years I have had my graduation cords hanging on my wall..one set is (was) blue & yellow and one is blue & white. Well today I noticed the blue on both has turned entirely PURPLE. On one I can see a couple blue threads but they look like they were made to be purple & gold and purple & white....

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?!

Yes. Exposure to sunlight will take its toll on any material.

Yes. They've faded. It happens.

Cords made to wear on a single occasion probably don't use the highest quality materials around.

Fluorescent light will also fade stuff. I'm always amazed that hospitals hang pictures under lights that operate 24/7/365. You can get glass that slows down the process.

When I moved out I was going through all sorts of old memory stuff I had packed away. I found ribbons we all got from my 8th grade graduation. The blue ribbon was purple now. Like others said-it happens!

My maize and blue tassel from 2005 is now maroon and gold, which is funny cuz those were my high school colors. What can ya do.
