December Holidays other than Christmas
I have a (for fun, not schoolwork) project I'm working on, and I'm wanting to include Holiday Celebrations other than Christmas.
So, if you celebrate something other than (or in addition to) Christmas, what is it, and what is your favorite tradition from that Holiday? The final message of the project is going to be that no matter what & how you celebrate, the Holidays are about family (real & adopted) and love. |

Because of my Dutch heritage we celebrate both Christmas and Sinterklaas.
In my family Sinterklaas is mainly for the kids and the giving of many gifts and Christmas more of a family gathering with some religious aspects, and no gifts. My "in-laws" do celebrate Christmas with gifts, so I divide my time between the two families. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas |

Festivus. Got the aluminum pole and everything.

Not December, but La Dia de reyes is a big deal in PR, and we sometimes celebrated it at home. Kids fill shoeboxes with grass and hay for the camels of the Magi and the Magi leave gifts behind.

We're probably the only Catholic family to celebrate St. Lucia's Day, which is on the 13th. When I was younger, I'd bring my parents breakfast in bed while wearing a really cool candle wreath. Since my little Caiti is not quite 3, we're going to bring Daddy breakfast together.

El doce de diciembre--today! El Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe.

I'm waiting for a resident Canadian to chime in for Boxing Day. Come take the mystery away from what many calendars tell your friends from the south what happens on 12/26.

We celebrate St. Nicholas Day in addition to Christmas. It's kind of wrapped up in all of our Advent activities though.
