Most well known Foreign Child as of today?

Sort of an odd question, I was looking to fill in something for a Political Forum I was posting to...

As of this day 12/10/2012, who is the non-American under 18 best known to Americans?

My first thought was one of the British Royals, but Charles and Andrew's kids all above 18 and most Americans don't know Edward or Anne's kids. One year from today it will probably be William & Kate's kid but he/she is in Utero...

The well known actors/actresses from Harry Potter are now over 18. Just Beiber is over 18.

I don't know if any of the Disney teen show actors/actresses are under 18, but they wouldn't be known to most adults...

Any other ideas?

Charlie of "Charlie Bit Me" fame? But seriously, maybe Malala Yousufzai, the young blogger who was shot on the school bus a while back.

First thing that came into my mind

eta: I came back to say the One Direction boys but apparently the youngest is 18 now.

Malala would definitely be up there.
Americans might remember Viktoria Komova from the Olympics, but probably as the "pouty Russian girl who lost to Gabby Douglas," or Ye Shiwen, the Chinese female swimmer who swam a split faster than Lochte, but I don't know how many would know the names and not just the stories.

What about Bindi Irwin? I've seen quite a few "save the wildlife/animals" commercials with her in them plus most Americans are familiar with her father, the late Steve Irwin.

Ehh, maybe I'm just speaking for myself but I don't think many people care about or remember Olympic athletes after the Olympics other then the US team (specifically medal winners). For example, I have no freaking clue who those people you mentioned are other than Lochte and Douglas. Has Malala been getting a lot of national news here? I've seen some reporting on that story but clearly it wasn't as important as the last twilight movie or who's currently boning Taylor Swift.

I was just trying to think of under-18 year olds who got attention during the Olympics because of AGDee's suggestion, and aquatics and gymnastics are sports more likely to have prominent younger athletes. I can't think of any non-Americans under 18 that really made a big impact.
I think Malala did get a lot of attention closer to the incident; I saw her name and related things trending for the US on Twitter, but not as much recently. I don't know how many people would remember the name today

I wouldn't have remembered the name had it not been posted.

Suri Cruise?

Tulip86 12-11-2012 06:50 AM

Suri Cruise is American.

Sasha Pieterse (Alison on Pretty Little Liars) is South-African, she was also on Heroes and is well under 18.

Yeah I didn't see the word foreign in the title last night...

The Jolie-Pitts live abroad, so I'm going with Shiloh.

She has a US citizenship though (yes I looked this up)

BabyPiNK_FL 12-11-2012 09:31 PM

I'm going to say Zahara Jolie-Pitt born in Ethiopia and her Cambodian(??) and Thai (??) brothers. Or Madonna's daughter Mercy and her son David who are both Malawian by birth. (Don't forget the brown babies folks!)
