What's the Silliest Infomercial Product?
 

I love how short infomercials portray life as being so incredibly inconvenient if you don't have the gadget being advertised.

One of my favorites was the "TurbieTwist" hair wrap. My daughter really wanted one of those when she was around 10-11. The commercials showed women trying to do all kinds of things with their wet hair wrapped in a cumbersome towel: "AAAAAUUUGGGHH! I can't believe how hard it is to talk on the phone, mow the lawn, and unload the dishwasher because this large towel keeps coming unwrapped!!!" Um, how about taking the towel off and letting your hair dry? :rolleyes:

Which one do you think is the silliest?

I don't know how silly they are, but I hate almost every single one of these targeted to children. Stompeez and Cuddleuppets and the light up pillow thing. (I like the Dreamlight.)

My daughter wants all of them.

There used to be an infomercial for some hair styling tool that would put your hair into twists... it had 3 prongs and you'd put a little chunk of hair in each one and push the button and it would twist them.
Not only was the twisty look not even trendy, like the ad would insist, but I have enough tangles on my own; I don't need a machine to do it for me. That thing looked like a hair accident waiting to happen. There was also a similar product that put beads on little braids/chunks of hair. I wonder how many uses of that ended in Mommy taking a pair of scissors to little Suzie's tangled beaded wad of hair.

That hair twisting thing did look like a disaster waiting to happen.

The best EVER was a few years ago for a Pet Vac. I started laughing as soon as it came on, and by the time they were vacuuming the lady's jacket I was in tears. Let alone them VACUUMING the CAT in the commercial. I mean, how many kitty downers must have been used to vacuum a cat? One of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life!

And that reminds me of a really old favorite: the Flowbee. Cut your hair at home with no mess!

The Snuggie. It's a backwards bathrobe, people. Just turn yours around the other way and voila!

My boyfriend bought me a pink snuggie...I don't ever use it for it's intended 'arms in a blanket' purpose, but it works great as a throw!

That said...the SlapChop.

The Insta-Booty. For the first minute or so as I was viewing I thought it was a fake or a joke commercial but it is an actual product.

When I worked at Chuck E Cheese, we had a holiday party and exchanged gifts. A majority of the employees were women (about 20 of us), and there were three men, one of them in his thirties, and two teenagers. A friend of mine bought one of those at a store and gave it in the gift exchange as a gag gift. Of course, the 30-some year old man got it. :P It was the funniest thing ever watching him open it, and he was very gracious about it. haha I had never seen one before they are quite stupid.

It's funny how ridiculous everyone thinks these are, but how many girls wear push-up or padded bras? It's the same thing but for a different area.
Disclaimer: I don't wear one of these. I don't need it and it looks uncomfortable. I just don't think it's that weird of an idea.

I literally laughed out loud the first time I saw the info-mercial for the Pos-T-Vac, also known as the penis pump. The the couples kept talking about how the Pos-T-Vac brought their relationships back to life. I get it--some people use it; but really an info-merical in the middle of the night?!

My wife's sister and brother-in-law gave us something wrapped in one of those boxes last year. It really was hilarious.

I only saw this infomercial once, but it was a for an exercise device that looked like a giant slingshot. It enclosed a bubble of water that would flow. You'd grab each end and fling it up and down, side to side. The device name was "The Flow."
The infomercial showed dozens of people in a park, flinging that thing up and down, to and fro, like robots.
Told my husband about it but never saw it again.
