COB Question
 

Hi, I am new to this forum and I joined because I have a COB question. :)
My school is in the quarter system, and I believe the sorority I am mostly interested in might have their final COB event sometime in the upcoming week (or it may just be a normal event, i'm not quite sure).
I just want to know what exactly happens during a COB event? Do they offer you a bid at the end of the event? And since the girls they recruited already got initiated/participated in big/lil week, does that mean that I will have to wait until Winter quarter to be initiated? Will I be paired up with a big or will I have to wait? Or do I have to wait until spring quarter? What pledge class will I be with? (fall or winter)?

Unfortunately Suz, all of the answers to your questions can vary depending on the school and the sorority. Since COB is not structured, any of the scenarios you asked about are possible.

You are putting an AWFUL lot of horses before the cart.

Those are a whole lot of specific questions that we cannot answer. I would suggest working on making a good impression and getting a bid before thinking about initiation and big/ little, etc. Best of luck!

Welcome to Greek Chat! COB events vary. They may invite you over for dinner or an activity with the entire chapter, or you may be invited for an activity like ice cream or bowling with just a few girls. They may offer you a bid at the end of that event or a few days later. Or they may invite you to come back for more events and meet more girls before bidding or not. Just go with it.

Seeing as it is nearly the end of the year, you'll likely be initiated during Winter Quarter. But who knows? It could be at the end of the fall. You can certainly ask that question at event: When does the new member period begin for this incoming class? When will they be initiated? That will show you are interested.

A new member will be paired with a big no matter what; so be sure to ask about their big/little. Members love to share stories about big/little reveals and the activities they do together.
