What are YOU thankful for?

Thanksgiving is coming up super quick (YAY TURKEY!) and Christmas right around the corner from that (YAY PIEROGI! [my family is 100% Polish and we eat traditional Polish food on Christmas]) ... so I'm just curious as to what all of you lovely GCers are grateful for this holiday season!

I'm grateful for (among many other things, people, etc.)...
God's love, my family, friends, good health, Alpha Gamma Delta, recovery, cheese, every class I've ever taken that I absolutely hated, my iPhone, cats, popcorn, Monster, and Pinterest.

:D

My wonderful parents who have worked so hard for me to be able to follow my dreams! They truly are my best friends.
My brothers.
My friends, back home and at college.
My intelligence and my good grades.
My teachers.
My wonderful sorority and my beautiful sisters!

I am thankful for the following:

That my dad keeps on truckin' (he is now 5 years past the estimated time the doctors gave him when he had his heart surgery)
That my mom found a job
That my little sister is still in school and is close to getting her degree
The wonderful members in my community in JVC
The opportunity to give a year of service to an under served community
The opportunity to live in SF for a year through my program
That my friends and their families did not suffer any devastating losses with Sandy
That we are getting our Alpha chapter back
That I will be attending my first ever convention next year
The hospitality I have experienced with sisters when first settling in SF
That I had the opportunity to get an education, and that I have the means to further it

Where to start?

I'm thankful for...

The gifts God has given me - good health, high intelligence, sharp wit, a sense of humor - although it would have been nice if She had withheld the myopia... :p

My wonderful husband.

The affection I receive every day from my cat.

Having a client for my business. (Although I could use an additional client or three. Anyone out there need a database administrator? ;) )

Being a woman and having rights, including the right to vote, the right to an education, the right to work and earn money in my own name, the right to step foot outside my home without having to wear a burqa and needing a male relative to accompany me, the right to earn a driver's license, and the right to exercise control over my reproductive functions.

Not having to worry about where my next meal is going to come from or where I'm going to sleep tonight.

I am thankful for so much. There are just too many things to list. It's just that my life is wonderful right now. I have everything I've ever wanted in life. Everything. I just wish my dad was still alive to see it all. He would be so proud of me, my choices, and what I've accomplished. I just believe that the life we build is the life that we will live in, and I am thankful for a wonderful life that my parents raised me to build. It was hard work, but it all paid off.

With that said, I thank God for everything He has given me. He is truly the foundation and cornerstone of everything that I have, and everything that I am thankful for. He has given me a great guy who rolls out the red carpet for me, and treats me like gold. I just believe that you must have a life that works well in order to have a love that works well, because whatever affects your life will affect your heart, which affects your love life. In short, the two anchor one another. I am also thankful for my friends that He has given me. I believe your life will work only as well as the lives you surround yourself with.

I am also thankful for my profession, because my profession is an expression of my purpose. Many people hate to wake up in the morning because they hate going to work. I am so thankful I don't have to deal with that, because I love what I do for a living, and I am awesome at it, if I do say so myself. :p

It's just that you will never be excellent at what you do not love. And you cannot love doing what you were not created to do. This is why I am so thankful that I was able to locate my gifts, then find my call and profession within the things that feed me and give me life and joy. There is nothing worse than doing a job that drains the life from you. Your work is supposed to feed you, not just financially but emotionally and spiritually as well.

I thank God for all that I have listed and more. :)

For Scotland.
For Glasgow.
For my friends, new and old.
For my husband.
For my fuzzy dog.
For my adorable wee nephew, and all the promise of his life.
For my family, for being so completely normal and drama free.

Being superficial, I am thankful for my car, which allows me to get to work; my phone/macbook, which allows me to talk & skype my family; my TV/DVD so I can relax; and books as I LOVE to read (I so need some new ones too)
