Correspondence with Internationals
 

I was recently talking to a friend of mine in another sorority at Syracuse. The word has gotten out and everyone is talking about how our International Headquarters did such a terrible thing by shutting down Alpha without warning. I know it has been said before, but we need to let IHQ know how we feel. We all know that they can send Leadership Consultant after Leadership Consultant to struggling chapters, but those girls (although we have fun and love them dearly) are not always trained in the areas where we need the most help. We had an LC tell us that she did not know why she was visiting our chapter, because she was not trained in the area where we were stuggling. And, in addition, she let us know that IHQ rarely listens to their comments and suggestions...Rather, they just continue to see the problems and send additional leadership consultants without ever sending solutions or suggestions to solve problems. We have expressed our concerns in writing to our LC's and in our reports, yet we see no improvement. We all need to address these concerns to help IHQ realize that they are being critical without ever offering help which is not benefits the collegiate chapters in any way.

I'll get off my soapbox, but I really feel strongly about the way Alpha was shut down and by the way things have gone this year in my own chapter regarding IHQ's ways.

My chapter has always struggled with formal recruitment and last year when I was VPR I would always write on my report in the correct spot what help I needed from the Recruitment consultant... I never received any materials or any LC's with information on what we needed, particularly information on conversation. It was really disheartening because I felt like no one read any of my reports so why was I doing them?
