Unexpected good movies...

Have you ever seen a movie that you just had to tell someone to watch. This movie was just 100% better than you thought it would be?

I have two:

Slingblade ~~ I don't know if any of you have ever seen this, but it stars Billy Bob Thornton. Everyone kept telling me to rent it and I did, and was pleasantly surprised.

Holiday Heart ~~ This is where Ving Rhames was a drag queen for Showtime. I must say, he makes an ugly woman, but the movie was good. Alfre Woodard won an Emmy for her role as Wanda, the crackhead mother.

Scarface, the 1983 version with Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer and Steven Bauer.
I wasn't particularly interested in seeing this. But it was straight comedy, especially the fact that all Al basically said was: "I'm Tony Montana. F@@$ you.":p

I must admit...Steel Magnolias is one of my favorite movies. I probably have see it about 20 times. I still cry when they are at Shelby's gravesite...http://www.plaudersmilies.de/bawling.gif

Also, I was very hesitant to see The Stepmom, but I saw it when it came on cable and quite enjoyed it!

Fight Club. Everyone said how awful this movie was, so I was expecting some mess. It turned out to be something that I MUST own!!!

Girl, you and me both. I saw this movie while I was riding a coach bus to Pittsburgh for a work conference. It was soooo good. I just can't get enough of it.

Meet the Parents - I thought it would be stupid but it was absolutely hilarious

Something About Mary
Long Kiss Goodnight
Double Jeopardy
Carlito's Way
A Bronx Tale

I'd have to say the movies that everyone should see are:

The Women of Brewster Place
Beaches
Fried Green Tomatoes

They were a lot better then I expected and I still cry when I see the first 2, even though I've seen them at least 6 or 7 times each.

A knight's Tale was a movie that wasn't expecting to be good, but I really liked it. I think that everyone should see that movie.
