Outfit advice?

Hi everyone! I'm new to these forums, and I'm a sophomore about to go through rush at USC (Southern California). I have a few of my outfits picked out for rush, and I'd love any feedback on them from the wonderful ladies of GC :D So here we go:

Convo Day #1:

I haven't picked my pref dress yet (eek) but hopefully I'll find one within the next few days and post it here! Let me know what you guys think :)

Also, on a separate note, for any other Greek Trojans out there, are Presents dresses required to be floor length or can they be knee length?

ellebud 08-20-2012 02:26 AM

Except for SDT the only Presents dresses that I've seen are floor length. Fight on!

On first glance, it seemed like the waist of Day #3 was peek-a-boo, which would be a no-no....I don't know how this would read in person, but remember that there will be people who have to make their opinions without being able to get close to you, so if it looks peek-a-boo from a distance, maybe rethink it.

Other than that, I love everything except the purple sweater in Day #1 (looks really 80's), but that's just a personal opinion.

Day 1 looks very preppy and "fall weather" compared to the other outfits. It's also very matchy matchy. It'll likely still be summer weather for USC recruitment.

Day#1 and 3 need some work.

Sciencewoman 08-20-2012 10:04 AM

I agree with Day 1 being too "matchy, matchy"...it's too much to have the metal embellishments on every piece.

I also agree that the peek-a-boo waist on the third outfit does not look appropriate.

I like the other outfits!

I was going to ask if #3 really is peek a boo or simply a different color. (This is why I detest online shopping.)

Slideshow Day's outfit is super awesome. :)

The weather is traditionally HOT for recruitment at SC. And although you won't have far to walk between houses...nothing says hot like a sweater with sweat stains. Be comfortable. Interesting accessory in the pearls. I am not saying do not wear them...I'm just saying I haven't seen pearls around the neck of any college girl.

greekhopeful93 08-20-2012 01:12 PM

Thanks for the feedback y'all! #3 is in fact peekaboo, I didn't know that would be considered inappropriate, but I'll look for another option. Also, should I just get rid of the sweaters?

WCsweet<3 08-20-2012 01:21 PM

I'd say yes. You won't need them.

Also, piggybacking off of Ellebud, pearls are not as popular out west as say... the SEC. It is rare to see anyone wear pearls for casual outfits or at least not that I've seen. We maybe wore them on pref night, but that was because it was one of our stones. You might also want to limit the pearls till pref or house tours. Granted I'm more familiar with PNW and upper California recruitment.

ellebud 08-20-2012 01:21 PM

Yes. It will be, if this week is any indication hot. You won't need a sweater and it is something else to keep track of. Good luck and fight on!

Yes, for all that's holy (fun with puns), do not wear that. Remember, you're impressing girls, not guys.

On a side note, am I showing my age when my first thought was how someone in that dress would hide their stretchmarks? :p

As an Advisor at UCLA, I've notice that pearls are back as campus fashion.
Several 1980's styles are coming back: docksider shoes, wearing pink & green together, pearls, collar on your polo shirt turned up (or even worse, DOUBLE polo collars turned up when you wear a polo underneath a polo -- layering polos!)
