Recruitment topics
So I noticed that there are a lot of threads on what not to talk about during recruitment, so as a PNM I am wondering what questions should we anticipate to be asked? As well as what are some questions we should ask?
Feel free to post any other advise! Thanks!:) |
In the beginning will be the normal: where are you from, what major, what dorm, etc.
Most likely a member will catch on to something you said and go from there. Really it is a conversation just like meeting any other new person. Just use more than one word answers. IE. Don't do this: "Do you like your roommate?" "Yes." Try: "Yes. She is very different from me, but its working out really well. She is going through recruitment as well. How do you choose roommates here?" or "Yes. I was so nervous rooming with someone I hadn't met before. I have ended up loving the dorms. What dorm did you live in?" Try asking questions back. It is easier to make a connection if the conversation isn't just one sided. Most likely there will be a topic she will grab to talk about. One conversation I had ended up being how I (and the sister) used to disinfect all the doorknobs in our dorms when people got sick. Seriously it can be random stuff. |
