Meet the Hutterites

I can't be the only GCer who has been watching this on National Geographic Channel. :)

Hutterites want apology for NatGeo television show.

What do you all think about the show and/or the response of the Hutterite community to the show?

WOW! Now, see, I never would've known anything about this show if it were not for this article. But I can sympathize with them, simply because it is exactly how we feel ... "we", referring mainly to some African Americans who live in the state of Mississippi, whose portrayal by Hollywood is horrific whenever they choose to shoot a film set here. It is an embarrassing representation of us as being slow-witted and backwards, so I have to assume the Hutterite community has a valid reason to be just as outraged if it isn't a true representation of them as well.

Thanks for sharing the article, though ... :D

:) You can watch episodes on the National Geographic Channel website.

I was excited to watch this one when I saw it advertised. However, I was very disappointed in the end product. It was blatantly scripted. I honestly didn't gain any real knowledge about the Hutterites.

Loved Bertha. Her sons were awful. Wesley is adorbs, too.

The show did highlight some interesting things about the Hutterites--some of which I completely disagree with as an outsider.

It was definitely just another reality show.

I like NGC's Amish: Out of Order.

Yep, it is one of my guilty pleasures and bizarre. Their cadence when they talk is fascinating.

Who remembers the episode where some of the Hutterite women were given makeovers? LOL.

As an outsider, I believe this show is not as dumb as American Gypsies.
