Last year I went through rush at University of Colorado at boulder as a freshman. Going into it, I didn't have a 3.0 (I had a 2.9), so I knew my grades might disadvantage me. The 2nd day I got called back to Pi Phi, Alpha Phi, G phi, Tridelt and AXO. The 3rd day I got dropped from Pi Phi and Alpha Phi so I decided to drop rush because I didn't think the houses were for me.
I'm going to be a sophmore next year and am thinking about rushing again.
1) How much harder is it to rush as a sophmore?
2) Is rushing a second time going to disadvantage me?
3) Should I say that It's my second time rushing on my app or not mention it? What should I tell sororities why i dropped rush? (truth is i didn't like the houses I got)
4) I will have a 3.0/ 3.1 going into rush this time. Is that GPA high enough to get into Chi O, KKG, Pi phi, Alpha Phi, and/or DG?
Thanksssss!!!

I will answer your questions.
1. It is harder. You have to be the total package. VERY good college grades plus loads of activities especially for top tiered chapters which seem to interest you the most. Most women who are close minded like you seem to be have a harder time. Chapters already have a BIG sophomore class they are looking for Freshman because they are the future of the Chapter. You have to be outstanding to get a bid as a sophomore. But hey, maybe they will see something different in you this year.
2. It can be a disadvantage. Some Chapters will auto release any one that has gone through and they have released in the past. You should have finished out recruitment the first time. You may have found out that you really did enjoy one of the Chapters you didn't prefer.
3. You don't need to mention it. We know.
4. I don't know what those Chapters minimum GPA's are or any thing about their membership selection. I personally think you have more to worry about then GPA if you weren't involved in campus life and we don't care about what you did in HS.
Hope this helps. Good luck. I think you will need it.
