Does FSU haze?

I know the bare minimum about fraternities and really am concerned about hazing. I'm against it and I've heard way too much. I was hoping I could get some info about which, if any, haze at FSU and how bad it is

Pledge somewhere. Let us know how it works out.

FSU would be in big trouble with the Feds if they hazed. And am not sure how they would haze. I mean, what can FSU do short of denying entrance if you don't do 100 push ups in panty hose? Really, a university haze? And I'm sure that's what you meant because you are an educated young man who is college material and knows how to properly express himself. Right?

You seriously thought you had to state that you are "against hazing"?

How about kicking puppies? You against that, too?

Thetalady rocks the one liners :D

I just had to chime in and say that this is probably the funniest answer to someone I've seen in a while. It's not funny because kicking puppies would be funny (cruelty to animals is never a laughing matter) but, the fact that thetalady pretty much called Captain Obvious out for being so ridiculous. Hahhaa, thanks thetalady--this made my day.

Heeeeeeeellllllllloooo Pot. This is your next door neighbor, Kettle.

Not everyone is "against hazing," though, so what he said isn't wrong.

If he would've said "Do they haze? I will do what it takes to get in" folks would be complaining about that, too.

OP - Most (if not all) of our GLOs are anti-hazing, but that does not mean that some members don't break the rules. You're probably not going to find someone who will say "Hi! My chapter hazes on weeks 3 and 6, so if you don't like it don't join us!"

Co-sign.

Some GCers are quite sheltered and need to open their eyes.

There's a very unscientific poll pinned to the top of the subforum as to whether a chapter hazes. It's been around 25% since the poll's inception. I say that's about right.

As to whether a chapter hazes at a flagship school like FSU, located in the Southeast, a major factor is going to be when the last time the chapter was recolonized. A lot of chapters end up getting closed for hazing cultures only to be reopened and rebuilt with consultants who install national programming and that sort of thing for new members to avoid hazing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

It's a major state college. Obviously, they haze. The bigger/more established the fraternity is, the more they haze most likely. Don't get scared by stories, the fraternity experience is well worth it.

Obviously? No. Maybe usually or a lot of the time, but not always. Especially where you have large chapters which are recently recolonized, hazing is often absent. Even at SEC schools.

Of course if you're talking old line traditional southern chapters which have been in continued existence for 150+ years, yeah, they probably do haze.

It's all purely speculative. No one here is going to say which chapters at FSU haze and which don't because even if we did know, we sure as hell wouldn't be advertising potentially illegal activity on the internet.
