Late or On-Time: A Poll
I was laughing with a mate from college the other day. We were laughing at the fact that anyone who rode home with me knew if I said to get to so and so destination for 2pm, you had better get there at 1:58, cause I was pulling off and you were getting left. (Back then, it wasn't funny because I was on a mission and I was red-ta go HOME!) THEN, when it was time to return to school, they had better have their "ride" to get them to whatever destination or else they were gonna get left in BR if they were LATE.
If someone tells me an event starts at a certain time, I'm sure to get there ON OR BEFORE the designated time. Are you notorious for being LATE or ON-TIME for an event? TELL THE TRUTH! :D |
I used to be a very prompt person. Now I just don't even try anymore. :(

Re: Late or On-Time: A Poll
I am always either EARLY or ON TIME. I hate when people make me late. I really do. I think what it is is that I was born 3 days late and I was upset about that  :p so I have spent the rest of my life being on time or early. I ALMOST got the NEVER TARDY TO SCHOOL AWARD but my mom's alarm clock did not go off one day in ninth grade and while I beeeeeegged to stay home, I had to go to school.
PUNCTUALITY is A VIRTUE :p |
***You can't arrive and begin at the same time***
I am ALWAYS early or on time. Being punctual is a must for me. When I was in college, I actually left a girl behind because I was ready to roll and she wasn't. She asked if I was going home on a particular weekend and wanted to know if she could get a ride with me. When I dropped her off at her house, I told her I was leaving at something like 3:00 on Sunday. My church back home started at 11:30 and ended at 2:00. So, I always left to go back to campus at 3:00. It was a three hour ride so I didn't like getting back too late. She said something about having to attend a church program later that afternoon. I repeated myself. I guess she didn't believe me. I called her house before I left home and was told she went to her church program. I left a message that it was 2:45 and I was leaving town. Don't you know she called my house that evening, and my mama told her I already called from my room. I was back on campus. She never spoke to me again. I could care less! All my relatives and friends know...DO NOT MESS WITH MY TIME!!! My wedding invitations said 4:00 and folks that know me knew to be on time!!!! My director was standing next to my limo and I gave the go ahead at 3:57. I don't play that CP time mess! |
This depends...
Hanging out...don't worry too much about it... School or a test...early... date...1st one early...2nd one...just be me, however late it may be... Sunday brunch with the fam..ALWAYS early or my mom will kick my ass...it's an Italian thing... party...at LEAST 1 hour late ( I don't want to show up to a bunch of sober people, they're boring) date..with a g/f, when I know that she's in a good mood and I'm liable to get ass for being a sweetie? I"M THERE LAST WEEK!:p |
To be 'on time' is to be late so I am always early. However, my husband of 8 years feels that to be 'on time' is to arrive in the vicinity at the designated time; the problem is that by the time you park, get in the door then arrive at your designated location, YOU ARE LATE. Sooooooo, if I have to be somewhere at say 2pm, I will tell him 1:30, that way we are both happy ;)

Social functions: I am notoriously late, and I hate that about myself. I'm trying to work on it.
Professional (work and sorority): I'm always early. In City Year, we always said, Early is on time, and On time is late. If you have to do extra PT, in the snow, rain, whatever, you'll be early, lol. |
On-time or early for professional and social functions.
STparents weren't about so-called CP time, so I had promptness drilled into me from an early age. My older sister, on the other hand, is always late. She was a work traveler for many years, but never missed a plane. :) |
One of my teachers always told us
"To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late." I cannot say that I follow this idea. For professional and important events, I am almost always on time. The only time that I am late is when I have to go with someone else. I hate when other people make me late. I don't like having to wait around for other people. But, I am too nice to just leave someone. Pretty soon, I am going to start leaving with or without people because I am too nice. For other things, I am pretty lax about getting there on time. I am notorious for being late to class  In those instances, I live by "better late than never." |
I hate to admit it but I have a VERY bad habit of being late. If it's for a scheduled meeting (work or sorority) I'm usually on time, not early but at the specified time. But for just for everyday stuff and social events I'm usually late. My friends and sorors always add fifteen minutes to whatever time I say I'll arrive. However in my defense, I do try to be considerate of others so in any situation if someone is actually waiting for ME to begin I make my very best effort to be there a little early. However, after reading this post, I think I'll make a greater effort to be promt. Soror AKAtude makes a good point, "You can't arrive and begin at the same time."

i am notorious for being on time. over the course of time, i've gotten better at not leaving people. however, i was known for leaving students (18+) when we would go places and they didn't return to the designated spot w/in 15 minutes of the designated time. cp time doesn't apply to me.

One of My Biggest Weaknesses
I am notorious for being late. I am usually on-time for "important" events, like for example, church, but otherwise I hate to say it but I cannot be counted on! I may be on time, I may be really late--you never know! :( This is b/c for some things, such as class, I don't find it important for me to be there on time. I know this is a bad quality to have and therefore it has gotten better over the years. However, I know that in the "real world" that WILL NOT cut it, which is why I am slowly improving it...
Some people, such as my mother (who is notorious for being "Early") and friends of mine WILL leave me, therefore b/c I know this I make every effort to be on time...But in my defense, many times it is not my fault!! But that doesn't matter--I guess it's like the boy who cries "wolf"... My family members and friends KNOW this about me, therefore they tell me "wrong" times for events. For instance, if I am supposed to be going to a party with my girls, they will tell me "We are leaving at 10pm" when in reality we leave at 10:30, 10:45, or even 11pm!! Sometimes I hate that they do this to me b/c, as I stated earlier, I may be on time and end up waiting on them, but I know it's my own fault... |
I am always early. I hate to be late for anything. Even if it means that I have to adjust my sleeping habits(ie get up at the crack of dawn to be somewhere) I will be early.
Right now I'm working at a palce that's only about 15 minutes from my house. I don't have to be there till 8:30. I'm usually there at 8:10-8:20. At my last job, I had to attend a training class for 5 weeks. The hours for the training class were from 8-4:30. From the 2nd day till the last day I work there, I was always there at 7:20. Some people in my training class thought 8 meant 8:10/8:30/9:25....there were some really hurt feelings when my trainer started writing folks up for being late all the time |
WOW...

Last night, at a Christmas party I attended, one of my LS burst out with this one: "Steeltrap is always early. I pull up, and there's that little gold car with the AKA stuff on it."
