University of Arizona: WHAT TO WEAR
Hi! I'm participating in formal recruitment this August at University of Arizona. I'm so excited! I have friends who have rushed in the south but I've heard that people dress differently for rush in Arizona, and that its more casual. I was just wondering mainly if short-shorts are appropriate - I don't mean where you can see anything you wouldnt want to! but something along the lines of this: http://www.forever21.com/images/mode...0036724-01.jpg these are the pictures of what the University Panhellenic Council suggests http://arizonagreek.orgsync.com/org/pan/whattowear but sometimes it's hard to tell just by their pictures, anyone who's been through rush at u of a would be of GREAT help or anyone who was at a west coast, southwest, or similar school.
Thanks in advance! |
Unless you are a teeny tiny girl (5 feet or under and 90 lbs or under) those shorts are WAY too short.
I really hope they're kidding with some of those other oufits. (I don't think sporting big sunglasses all through rush would be appropriate.) |
I've seen shorts that short on PNMs waiting outside houses for parties. I think they are to short, but that's my old lady opinion. I've seen tank tops, and bare mid-drifts, and cut offs. I've also seen sun dresses and skirts and not-so shorts.
It will be hot and you will be walking from house to house in 100+ (unless it rains) degree heat. You need to wear something light and cool that also doesn't look like you're going clubbing. You also need to wear comfortable shoes. |
Regardless of where rush is occurring and how hot it is, my thought has always been that if you're not sure about shorts, wear a cute pair of capris. You can't go wrong if it's the length you're concerned about.
Better to play it safe and maybe be a little warmer, than be uncomfortable and/or wear something that's inappropriate. And you can always wear shorts on Day 2 after you see how everyone else is dressed on Day 1. |
I - oddly enough am 5' 0" and about 100lbs haha since I'm short I usually can pull off shorter shorts but I guess a skirt would be a safer bet? thanks for the tips

If each round gets slightly dressier, then I don't understand why they say shorts, skirts, and sundresses are ok for everything except pref. Also, their example of an acceptable pref dress looks kinda homecoming-ish to me.

Good Luck! |
I think every chapter is looking for women with cameltoe.

FYI - until recruitment ends in August, I am not posting on any Arizona related threads, to avoid the appearance of impropriety (we had issues on GC with another poster last year, and her chapter received recruitment infractions). AZ-AlphaXi & BearDown can jump in, but I'm being silent (I know, I know - hard to believe). I will say that AXOrushadvisor's comments are accurate in all ways.

My daughter was born in AZ but we moved to SoCal before she entered K. We went back to Tucson last summer on our pre-college decision visits. I forgot how hot it could be. My daughter asked if it was always that hot. I said only May through Sept. She looked at me like I was completely out of my mind. The attire they're showing looks like what the UofA girls were wearing when we were there. |
