Recognizing a member from class- is it okay to talk about the class?
I'm going through recruitment as a sophomore, and I'm sure I'll recognize at least a few of the sorority members from my classes last year. So, I'm wondering... if I DO see someone who was in one of my classes, is it appropriate to talk to them about the class?

I'm not in a sorority, so take this for what it's worth...
When we had guys show up that we knew from class/other organizations/whatever, it was cool to say "Hey, I remember you from CHEM1301" or "Aren't you in Leadership Academy?" but it stopped short of "When we were in class, how did you do on the third test?" It was useful as a conversation starter, but not as the entire conversation. |

I agree this is a good way to segue into academics, other interests (careers, hobbies), etc. If you feel weird about bringing it up out of the blue, you can mention your schedule or something and "discover" you're in the same class. Like FleurGirl said, I think it's a fun connection!

I would absolutely mention it, but if it was a class of 300 people and you sort of remember her, don't make more out of it than it was. The more you can bring real life into rush, the better and tying yourself into a member's real life will make you both more real and more memorable. And like FleurGirl said, keep it positive, or at the very least light-hearted.
