Declaring a SigEp Sweetheart(s)

Hey brothers. So I've seen some topics posted by Chapter Sweetheart, but I was wondering if your chapter declares a sweetheart(s). We haven't declared one since 2006, and I am trying to bring it back. What policies do your chapters have, and is it a good idea? How do you tell her either?

If I want to get one declared, would my chapter have to vote on first declaring one, and then voting on candidates?

VDBL!

Hi, I'm just sticking my nose in because way back in the dark ages of 1988, I was Sigma Phi Epsilon sweetheart at their spring formal. Speaking from the lady's point of view, it was so sweet and a wonderful gesture on the brothers' part.

So, do what you need to do to bring it back...it's an awesome thing!

That's great! What did they do for you, and after declaring you the sweetheart, what happened next? Did you hang out with them more, wear letters, etc?

I was in college when Sig Eps still had "little sisters" called Golden Hearts. During the time that I was in college, nationals requested that Golden Hearts be discontinued. (This is my recollection, I'm sure some of the brothers from that time period would have a much better idea.)

But anyway...I was already a Golden Heart. Normally, the brothers would vote at a chapter meeting to decide on who would be the Sig Ep Sweetheart at the spring formal. It was basically a way that the brothers showed their appreciation. Since I was already a little sister, I could wear their letters.

This probably isn't of much assistance, but more of a history lesson. :)

I wish I could help more. Best of luck!
