Boxtops and Labels
I'm sure many of your groups collect Boxtops and Labels for Education.
Anyone wonder what these companies are thinking? Campbell's soup labels have the required part in the only spot that's GLUED down. I just opened a Betty Crocker package -- the "tear here" instruction tore the "boxtop" in half. I've noticed this a lot. On Welch's jelly, I've given up trying to remove the label. Swanson broth cartons take a kitchen shears and some elbow grease to remove. Okay, done ranting for now. |

Remember a few years back when Yoplait yogurt had the pink lids that you could send in and money would be donated to a breast cancer foundation? I always felt a little guilty for not participating, but I didn't like the idea of trying to wash the yogurt off and saving them. More recently, a different brand (Dannon, maybe? I eat a lot of yogurt!) had a similar program, but you just had to go to the website and type in a code that was printed on the lid. I actually did that one- a little extra work, maybe, but no needing to wash and save old yogurt lids.
I do save the Box Tops for Ed and the Campbell's labels when I think of it (or, yes, when it's possible to remove the label without it tearing apart), and then when I get enough I give them to a school. |
I didn't do the yoplait tops because the fine print said they would donate up to a certain amount- so if they recieved more tops than that, it didn't matter.
I do the box tops and soup labels, and yes the location of them drives me crazy. There is a "box top" on the spreadable butter lid, and I've taken to just sending in the whole lid to school. |
I use an Exacto knife to slice the Campbell's soup label. Then I lift a corner and yank it off. Easy. But there's usually a dot of gummy glue underneath.
I don't bother with the other labels. Life's too short! |
I always wash my recyclable plastic, glass, and cans, and the labels usually slide right off, so you might try giving them a soak in warm soapy water.
