Survey says...The Passing of Richard Dawson
NEW YORK (AP) — Richard Dawson, the wisecracking British entertainer who was among the schemers in the 1960s sitcom "Hogan's Heroes" and a decade later began kissing thousands of female contestants as host of the game show "Family Feud" has died. He was 79.
Dawson, also known to TV fans as the Cockney POW Cpl. Peter Newkirk on "Hogan's Heroes," died Saturday night from complications related to esophageal cancer at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, his son Gary said. http://news.yahoo.com/family-feud-tv...143746235.html |

RIP
I just saw his children on Access Hollywood (I believe?) and they were saying that he was diagnosed only ~3 weeks ago, so they were happy that he didn't have to ensure 6-18 months of pain. |
I know I'm gonna come off as pretty insensitive, but I thought that he had already died years ago. :(

Anyone else recall when Benny Hill 'died' in mid-1980's, only to be shown LIVE IN PERSON onscreen when they announced his show/name as a nominee during a live, televised award show? EVERYONE in my family who was watching simultaneously said aloud, "I thought Benny Hill was dead!" Within ten years of that award show he 'died' (again). |
