Recruitment Event
 

I am looking for ideas to replace one of our recruitment events we hold in the fall.

Because we have deferred recruitment (January), our Panhellenic Exec hosts recruitment events so that the PNMs and Actives can meet each other in an all-Panhellenic setting rather than at just the individual chapter's philanthropy events. This gives PNMs and Actives a chance to meet women they may not have an opportunity to meet otherwise.

One of our events is an Ice Cream Social. Typically we utilize our recruitment counselors to serve the ice cream and toppings, but we are looking for something new that will not require our rho gammas to do this. We would much rather have them mingling with the PNMs and helping PNMs meet Active women. This event needs to promote socializing, but we already have a Greek Picnic so we don't want to do anything cookout related.

If anyone has ideas please let me know!

Why not just draft some chapter members who AREN'T recruitment counselors to serve the ice cream? You could draft alums, instead, if that doesn't work. (I would have been glad to hide out at the food service table when I was an active. Recruitment was not my strong suit.)

Maybe you could just go with a serve yourself cookie buffet with coffee, tea and soda. Like a wedding cookie table.

that is interesting-usually rho gammas affiliations are secret and they have to disaffiliate at some point in the year, even for deferred recruitment. OP, your rho gammas don't have to do this?

Even if they disaffiliate, they can still introduce people! Goodness....

I understood her to be saying that the rho gammas for her sorority are hostessing at their own sorority event. I was asking how her school does it. And I thought that once rho gammas disaffiliate they are not to communicate with members of their sororities. Goodness!

I thought Rho Gammas shouldn't be disaffiliated for a whole semester. Or is that just that silence for all sorority members shouldn't be a whole semester?

our Rho Gammas disaffilate for the entire fall semester. they are disaffiliated for the ice cream social event, but since it is an all-panhellenic event they are there to help out. we would like for them to help introduce PNMs to active women NOT in their chapter... i've found that the rho gammas bond so much and form their own sort of "chapter" amongst themselves that they have no issues with disaffiliation and introducing women to all chapter members, not just their own.. they really focus on the PNMs' well-being (this is from my experience as a rho gamma two years ago and my experience on the panhellenic exec board last year.. so i am hoping my group of RGs this year will be the same!)

we could ask actives to serve, but typically the chapters want their women out there meeting the PNMs rather than serving food. thanks for the suggestion though! i like the cookie bar idea - i will sugges it!
