Rush at UNF
 

Hey y'all!
I'm transferring to UNF from another university (it was just too big for me, and UNF seems to be the perfect size!) and I'm planning on rushing Fall 2012.

I have no idea how rush works at UNF, could anyone fill me on what to expect and maybe some tips on what to wear (I hate being over/underdressed!)? Will being an upperclassmen affect my rush experience? What type of events are held, how long is rush week? Should I get recommendations? Etc, etc. Anything helps!

UNF? North Florida? Needs some help here - we are all over the country so not everyone is familiar with the intials of schools. I would offer that the school's PH web site can answer most of your questions. When you give us the name of the school, we can give you other specifics.

UNF is North Florida (Jacksonville). I have a friend who is transferring from UNF to where I go. She was in DG. I assume ask around on campus (have you had Orientation yet??)

I had trouble finding anything on their website, all I could find were the dates of rush. I guess not much info is available yet because it is months away.

I honestly didn't plan on attending orientation, but I didn't think about how their would be information on sororities available there. Orientation is also months away though.

With recruitment in August, it's not much time. Get your recs together - yes, they use them there. You can already sign up on the PH web page. There is some information there. I believe that the Greek Life office has a booklet they can send you - they used to anyway. A call or email to them would ascertain that information.

Huge upswing in PNM's last year, or major retention problems or many upperclassmen PNM's?

Their numbers have been going up for some time now. They want to keep the chapters at the level they are but it may be difficult without expansion. However, expansion is an issue due to the housing situation there. There is limited student housing in the first place. The proposed Greek Village has not gotten off the ground as UNF does not have the money any longer and neither do the groups. They were all told that UNF would build it and they would rent to the Greeks so no one has been saving money towards building it themselves. In fact, Kappa Alpha Theta may have given more thought to colonizing there had they known at the time that the housing deal was falling thru. The school is growing very quickly so something is going to need to happen.
