Use of the coat of arms?
I want to give my boyfriend a custom engraved flask and I was originally going to put his name and then the Alpha Sigma Phi coat of arms, but then I remembered Greek organizations, especially Alpha Sig, have strict rules about what they can or cannot put their letters, crest, etc. on.... I go to a small school so they take this probably more seriously than bigger schools and my boyfriend is particular about these things. I can't ask him because I want to surprise him.
Here is my rough draft design http://i46.tinypic.com/wgtbr.jpg Do any Alpha Sigma Phi's know if this is ok or forbidden? I want to be absolutely positive I'm not committing some type of taboo before I order it!! Thanks! |
When in doubt, a flask is on the no no list.

Fraternities tend to be more lax than sororities, but I still would not go with the crest on the flask thing. It may be that you possessing the crest in any way shape or form is a taboo in itself (forget the alcohol).

Use of the coat-of-arms and other symbols is discussed on the fraternity's public web site. Doesn't seem to mention "flask" specifically. Good luck in your search for information. See
