Alzheimer's

Hello everyone, I do not mean to crash your board but I had a quick question for all of you. I have been participating in events for Alzheimer's, usually I donate money but this year I want to do the walk as well. My dad passed away on October 11th 2011 from Alzheimer's and the walk I want to attend is on October 13th this year. Anyway, I know that Sigma Kappa's philanthropy is Alzheimer's and I very much respect and admire that, always have even before my dad got sick (it runs in my family unfortunately so we have always tried to help). So I was wondering if it was appropriate/acceptable to associate my walk or donate money to Sigma Kappa, even though I am not a member? Thank you and sorry in advance if it is an innapropriate question.

My condolences on the loss of your father.

I don't see anything inappropriate with what your asking.

When you register for the walk, you can check to see if there's a Sigma Kappa team registered for the event and make a donation through their team site.

Any organization that would turn away your money based on X Y or Z thing does not deserve your money. I'm sure Sigma Kappa will gladly take your money. When sororities do fund raising the GOAL is to reach donors outside of the circle. You simply can't raise enough money tapping the same well all the time.

The question that would be trickier is how could you and TAP get involved with Sigma Kappa to help the program organization and/or execution. They may not want the added confusion of another sponsor, or they may be glad to tag you on to the sponsor list if you can get a group of brothers together for your local walk. I wouldn't presume to answer that one, but if it's something you're interested in (and your brothers are also interested) it might be worth asking if you can help, beyond just writing a check.
