I am choosing to believe that this year HAPA encouraged everyone to wear hats in my honour.

Chaucerian day of ill-omen comes from "The Knight's Tale". It's the day Arcite and Palamon are going to try and beat the snot out of each other in order to gain the hand of the fair Emily, who truly could not care less about either one of them. Let's just say it doesn't go well . . .
