New Sorority, looking for advice
.
|
Welcome to the forums.
Few things: 1.) These forums are very public. You may want to remove all identifying information from your post (i.e. your name and chapter). 2.) Try to not post any dirty laundry; it suffices to only say that you're looking to make things better. There's plenty of advice to be found on these forums if you search for them. |
1. Why is the president running the pledge program?
2. Why are you going to be president after being a member for only one semester? That's a lot to put on a new person. 3. Why do you feel the need to "follow the university sorority's traditions"? Your organization should be its own entity. |
I take it this is the group at Genesee CC?
Community colleges attract a different kind of student than regular 4 year colleges. To try to model yourself after the groups at the SUNY system schools (or any other 4 year schools) would be unwise. Many of your members will only be around for a year or two. I googled and found nothing relevant under "community college sorority." There's a reason for that. It is very very hard to make this sort of thing work with the lack of continuity. You need to be a great deal "looser" with requirements than a sorority at a 4 year college would be, simply out of necessity. If you can't deal with that, it's either time for you individually to terminate your membership, or the sorority as a whole to disband. |
