U of Nebraska: About 30 fraternity members march with Confederate flag displayed
All-around bad idea to do this. I can’t help thinking of the veterans who are now deeply offended, or soon will be , when they hear about it.
http://www.nebraska.tv/story/1764963...nfederate-flag Excerpts from^^: “Posted: Apr 21, 2012 2:47 PM CDT Updated: Apr 21, 2012 2:47 PM CDT LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A University of Nebraska-Lincoln fraternity is under investigation after about 30 members marched around campus with a Confederate flag. . . . University employee Rebecca Carr told the Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/IZcmvX) that she witnessed the march Monday afternoon and saw the men from Delta Tau Delta dressed in camouflage toting the flag and singing "The Star Spangled Banner." She called the display disgusting. Ryan Caldwell, alumni chapter adviser, says the march was part of an annual fundraiser for veterans that has traditionally included a march of students in military fatigues. He says the student who carried the flag has been reprimanded and will likely be expelled from the fraternity. Both the local chapter and its national affiliate are looking into the incident. UNL administrator Juan Franco says judicial affairs is also investigating.” |
Guess they don't celebrate Confederate Memorial Day.

I recall an incident in the Mid-West several years ago involving the KKK. A small group thought it would be a good idea to have a Klan rally the very same day of a major Civil War Re-enactment somehow thinking that the "Southern" troops would join them. When news of this was received within the different camps, the re-enactment came to a complete halt. The Commanding Generals issued a combined Call to Colors. The combined camps marched behind their Color Guards. With fixed bayonets. The KKK took one look and then ran for their very lives.
