hello,
we had a crush party last semester. The premise was that each sister submitted the name of her crush (if single) or boyfriend (if dating) and the social chair called each guy inviting then to the party. There, the sisters would reveal themself to their crush and give them a carnation. There was dancing, refreshments etc. I didn't like the party. If someone's crush didn't show up, it wasn't much fun and my boyfriend had a fight with pne of my sisters causing a big problem. This semester we had a screw party that was a lot of fun. Buy a bunch of different size nuts and bolts. Each guy gets a nut and each girl gets a bolt. Girls go around finding the guy with the nut that fits their screw. When a match is made they "screw." It was alot of fun and we had alot of good laughs. Good Luck! P.S can we get some more phi mus on this board??? |
We just set out a notebook with each frat on a different page. You can write down as many boys as you want. The social chair goes to the fraternities and hands out invitations, then lots of boys show up to the party.

Every farternity and sorority here puts a list of people "invited" to their crush in the student paper. It's always fun seeing who got invited, but honestly no one checks a guest list at the door and lots of random guys show up. Kind of a twist on a crush...we have a grab a date type event usually once a year. No one knows when it will be but then there are signs up at the house annoucing it on the day of the event. You have that day to find a date. It always goes over very well and lots of girls come even without dates. The chapter always pays for the t-shirts for the girl and her date so it's even more incentive to come. Last year we did "draft a date" where the idea was to come in some kind of camo outfit (we were told of the theme in advance so girls could go out and buy an outfit if needed).

nothing here
Last year (when I wasn't in a sorority, and when I actually got interested) my friend had a crush party with her sorority and another one had a camo one. These are the type of things that really got me interested in Greek life. However, it really disappoints me that here (at my current University where I transferred) Greeks have a really bad rep. There WERE four sororities and there are four fraternities. We have Alpha Xi Delta, Kappa Iota (nationally affiliated with Kappa Delta Phi), Phi Mu and we HAD Sigma Iota Sigma (a local sorority)...they were derecognized this semester. Our fraternities are Sigma Nu, Phi Kappa Sigma, Kappa Delta Phi, and Delta Chi. There was a huge commotion about Greeks in the student newspaper and then there were about 1,000 copies of the newspaper stolen by a fraternity member. So, we're not really looked upon very well. We don't have NPC we have GWC and IFC. We don't have a "Greek Week" and I haven't seen a social yet (but I'm new). From what I hear, Greek Life used to be a lot better, but not now. The max membership is forty people. Our school only has a resident body of about 1400 students. The total enrolled is 11,000. If anyone has any ideas about a get-together similar to these but would match our position a little better let me know PLEASE!!!
Thank you! p.s. Sorry bout telling the whole story! |
fun ideas!
I was just reading this thread and I think the grab-a-date party and the screw party sound like a lot of fun! They're different than what the typical date parties are. For our crush party, Phi Mu and AXO here on campus get together to throw it. Each girl is allowed to invite three guys. The guys get an anonymous invitation, they only know from which sorority the girl that invited them belongs. It's then up to the girl if she wants to tell him or not. It's always a lot of fun since we get along with the AXO's really well.
