Can I take a leave of absence?
Hey everyone.
So here's my dilemma. I need to transfer to another university due to low grades. I would still like to be a member of my sorority however, because I plan to later transfer again to a university that has my sorority. Is there a such thing as taking a leave of absence? If so, how do I go about getting it and what does it entail? Also, what is the process for joining another chapter once I get to the new school? Thanks!:) |
You should check with your chapter adviser and not us.

Okay thanks!
but I'm not sure yet and I don't want to stir any rumors. So, If anyone has other info it would be much appreciated! |
It all depends on your orgs policy.
|
Each organization has different policies. Strangers on the Internet can't tell you about your situation and your organization. Suck it up and talk to someone who can tell you what you need to know.
You could also log into the members only section of your organization's website and read your bylaws for yourself. |
If you are transferring due to low grades, are you sure that you want to start your new college career with an extracurricular that will make it that much harder to focus on your grades? You know, the reason why you're in college in the first place?
|
If you want to keep your intentions private, go to an advisor and talk to her. I am sure, if you ask, she will keep it confidential. No one can tell you for sure but a member of your organization, while many of our organizations have similar policies they won't be exactly the same.
|
And if you're on academic probation, your upcoming move probably isn't too much of a secret or surprise. Deal with your questions head on.
