Shuttle Discovery Flyover Pics (DC)
It was a beautiful day here in DC to step outside and watch the shuttle
on its way home. I've never seen anything like this, so I'm super geeked. The pilot really put on a show. At times it was so low, I felt like I could reach out and touch it. And, it circled my building (near Cap Hill) several times so people were out on the roof cheering and waving!! It was so touching. These user-submitted pics can be found at the Washington Post: Space Shuttle Discovery comes to Washington. None of these are mine, but here's what I mean. http://twp_echo_ugc.s3.amazonaws.com...3bae15_web.jpg http://twp_echo_ugc.s3.amazonaws.com...37882a_web.jpg http://twp_echo_ugc.s3.amazonaws.com...64b8fe_web.jpg |

Thank you both!!!!!!!!!!!
I was south of Reagan Airport on the Virginia side of the river, and had a fabulous view, but didn't get pictures. This is full circle for me: I saw the very first launch and the return-to-space launch from Cape Canaveral and I saw Discovery piggybacked on the SCA years ago while it was parked in Denver. This was like finishing the book. |
