When I brought my Bonds of Sisterhood to my dorm room for the first time after my pinning, I remember calling my mother and telling her about "The Pen..." and all of the other coincidences. I was an avid writer, the National Philanthropy at the time was the the American Lung Association and I have Cystic Fibrosis, and the list went on. I remember painting our letters on my dorm room window (it was a "thing" we did") in double blue and gold, and trying to get the Xi just right...I lived next door to my pledge sister and we shared the paints and the process.

I was actually thinking about the Xi yesterday and how we are the only NPC with the letter, and how much that small, quirky letter represents us.

My story isn't typical, but it has come full circle, and I love my Alpha Xi Delta.

Happy Founder's day to all my sisters, past, present and future!

I miss having ALA as our philanthropy. I loved that we were required to be CPR certified, and particularly at the time, an education about the problems of smoking was very appropriate to college age kids. We also supported a camp for cystic fibrosis, which kept our efforts local. Alas, the times they keep on changin.
