Prospective UWF or FSU student !
Hi everyone ! My name's brittany and I'm considering UWF and FSU.
I really want to know more about Sororities there but i've mainly done my research on UWF. Seems like the Panhellenic sororities are not diverse AT ALL (I'm jamaican and scottish) but I don't want to be in a 100% black sorority either. Anyways I joined to get some guidance and to know what to do before I go to school ! :) |
And if women of diverse heritages do not seek membership, how is the system to become diverse? Sororities only choose from among those who go through rush.

1-read a LOT here. There are a lot of discussions about schools in Florida.
2-disregard the thread that is recently active about the black girl wanting to go through rush at Alabama. This is apples and oranges and although you still may not be accepted by everyone, I think you won't have the same level of dismissal. 3-the NPC and NPHC sororities are VERY different, not just in the color of skin of the majority of their members. You could certainly go through NPC rush and if you find it isn't for you, you could then pursue an NPHC sorority (which is completely outside my purview), but I would be very careful not to consider one a consolation for the other. It's like choosing law school versus medical school; they're both hard to get in and rewarding if you can make it through, but you don't do one just because you can't get into the other. |
One other word of advice: Just by naming the schools, giving your name and describing your heritage, you've already said enough that it's likely anyone at UWF or FSU who reads CG (and you should assume that people at both schools can and will read this thread) will be able to immediately identify you come recruitment time. So don't say anything here that you wouldn't want someone who might be on the other side of recruitment at one of those schools to read. ;)

FSU and UWF are polar opposites in size, atmosphere and in greek life. There are threads on GC about recruitment at FSU, but I can remember only one thread from a UWF pnm, so that may a bit harder to look up.
