Need Help with Rush and Retention Issues
I'm part of a local sorority on a small campus where the ratio of men to woman is very small and almost non-existant at times; and my sorority has fallen on tough times as to where we can't seem to recruit girls. Me and my sisters are very close to eachother, but we need to expand and we need to do it sooner rather then later. We have around 6 girls graduating May of 2013 and that is almost of all the sorority. We all really small and never seem to be able to get our numbers up above 10. Idea's for Rushing, and Retention of PM's would be great advice for us. Anything and Everything is helpful I would love to see our numbers grow in the next two years that I'm on campus.

I thought you were about to ask if you should go co-ed.

I absolutely love this idea. In any recruiting situation, you must show those you want that they want you and that there is something in it for them. The post I linked to does both, and may be appropriate given the size of your organization.

do you mean that there are few women at your school? who are you competing against for members-other locals, NPC sororities, NPHC sororities? How do you treat your new members? How long after they join are they initiated? Are your dues comparable to your competitors? What does your sorority do for fun?

I think she means it the other way around....that there are far more women than men, and mixers and other things that have to do with interacting with guys are hard to come by. In other words, women don't see the point of joining a social sorority as it does little to nothing for their social life.
If there are other sororities on your campus...are they struggling as well, or are they doing fine? If it's the latter, they're doing something right that you're doing wrong. |
