Should I Rush A Second Time?

This past year (as a Freshman), I participated in recruitment and it really did not go as I had hoped. I was cut quickly from many chapters, but i kept the rest through most rounds. On pref night, I was given many hints that I was definitely in at the chapter of my choice. On bid day, I was only given a bid by my last choice, where I signed my bid acceptance and went to bid day. The entire time I felt out of place and the next week I decided to leave the chapter before any pledge stuff even started. I am considering rushing again next year to try to get back to some of the chapters who considered me last time. I also have the option of "re-joining" the chapter where I accepted the bid if they decided to open up informal recruitment this year. Any advice on what I should do? Should I try to rush again, or would it be a waste of time since I accepted a bid last year?

What about your situation has changed since last year that would make you more attractive to the chapters who initially rejected you?

Since last year, I've gotten more involved and honestly am more comfortable talking to people. My biggest issue I feel like was that I was really nervous and found it hard to be myself. I also have a lot of friends in various chapters now.

Re-rushing is generally harder than the first time for a bunch of reasons, but there are things you can do to help overcome it. Make sure your GPA is great and you are involved in activities, have friends in the chapter, look great for recruitment, get recs for all chapters, be friendly and personable to each chapter during recruitment, etc. If you want to be in a sorority, give it a shot. Good luck.
