Audience Response Systems

Has anyone used audience response systems for voting in their chapters? I have heard that it can work well for things like MS, but before we invest in a system for the chapter, I was hoping someone on here had some experience with how it works...

I've used them at medical conferences many times but never in Greek situations. They are really nice and work well.

How expensive are they?

I would be seriously surprised if there's not "an app for that". Maybe check into that. If there's not one that works exactly, there are people that will build them for you probably cheaper than a whole new system.

There is one, that I can't think of the name right now, but google will know, where everyone votes from their cell phone, and the results are compiled on the website. I know another instructor in my department tried it out, and it saves money on clickers, but the results are not as real-time.

Gah, I know what you're talking about and I wish I could think of that name. I saw it used in a presentation recently. You can vote as long as you have text OR Internet capabilities on your phone.

ETA: http://www.polleverywhere.com/ I think this is it!

Yes, that's it.

Renting audience response keypads

I own an audience response system rental company out of Portland, OR and I just wanted to shed some light on the cost of renting a kit.

Our keypads cost $4 per day, plus shipping. This includes the associated receiver, software download and training in its use.

For more info checkout www.ars-rental.com or email me directly at info@ars-rental.com

Thanks everyone for the great info! I love the cell phone idea (flexible, affordable), but how do I get the women to only use their phones to vote and not at any other time during meetings/MS?

Cell phones are the bane of my existence at sorority meetings :)

Well, right. That's why I don't use them in class.

Maybe you could have everyone pass their cell phone two women to the left.
