Oh baby you got what I need, you say he just a friend...

What's going on GC.... Have a question for you...when it comes to relationships, if your best friend is of the opposite sex, would you introduce them to your significant other? How about if it were reverse? Would you still maintain that bond? Would you want your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband still maintain that friendship?

After a few responses I will explain my thoughts on the subject.....

First of all, now that song is stuck in my head. Thanks.

To your question - If this person is your best friend, you should introduce them to your SO at around the same point that you would introduce him/her to your same-sex friends. I think it looks sketchy if you DON'T introduce the two.

If my hubs had a female best friend and kept her away from me, I would have thought hanky panky was up. He does have a few close female friends, and I knew of them and met them when the time was right (they lived on opposite coasts). No biggie.

You're welcome.

But I agree with LABlonde, it looks weird if you don't mention any friends of the opposite sex with your same sex friends.

Hiding any friends from your SO is shady, but the fact that it's your "best friend" and she/he is of the opposite sex would make me think that something was up.

My friend and I talk on the phone about three times a week keeping abreast with what we are doing in our lives. When my wife and I were dating I introduced her to my best friend about two months into the relationship. I told my wife the history of my friendship with lil sis and that it went as far back as high school. When I went to regionals one year i had my wife meet my best friend... They both had preconcieved views about each other.. After that day of all of us hanging out, my wife realized that my best friend was not going to be a threat. My best friend in turn knows that my wife was someone that sincerely cared for me and would look out to have my back and keep my ole cocky persona in check. Lil Sass was also in our wedding.

Whenever she is in town she always have a place to stay when she rolls through and my wife is glad to have her over.. Its funny though, my wife would always ask about how i was back in the 757 and my best friend would be more then happy to give my wife more ammunition to make jokes for later... I guess everything turned out well in the end... I do agree I think it is best to have your significant other to get to know your friends especially if they are from the opposite sex... it kills a whole lot of confusion.
