Today's the 100th anniversary of GSUSA, and I thought I'd mention something here on GC! I know that there are SO many women out there who participated in Girl Scouts to some degree as young girls, and it's a really wonderful organization! And let's not forget those delicious Girl Scout cookies that come around this time of year!

I was a Girl Scout from kindergarten through 5th grade. It provided me with SO many opportunities and experiences that I would not have had if my mom hadn't made me join. Looking back, it reminds me a lot of the ideals of sorority life, promoting lifelong friendship, philanthropy, and opportunities to become a better version of yourself. The five years I spent as a daisy, brownie, and junior girl scout will remain with me forever. Though I moved and didn't join another troop, I still to this day maintain friendships with several of the girls I met in kindergarten.

I would be omitting a huge part of my experience with the Girl Scouts if I neglected to mention how my experience working with the local Girl Scouts through Kappa Delta as well. Just as these young girls have gained much from our ties as one of our four philanthropies, the girls help us grow as women. I could not imagine a better philanthropy partnership, and each and every semester I look forward to our Girl Scout events! We did a cookie sale just a couple of weeks ago at our house, and we have a couple pictures of the daisy scouts throwing up the KD sign, with the biggest smiles on their faces! It's really great to build strong relationships with these girls and see them grow!

Happy Birthday, Girl Scouts of America!!!!

YEAH Girl Scouts!! Happy 100!! My life has been enhanced by my wonderful experiences at camp, in friendship circles, singing songs, learning practical life skills, and just how to be a better person. :)

Imagine my surprise when hypoallergenic and I went to her Silver Award ceremony and we ran into two other women from my Alpha Gam Alumnae Club, both there with their daughters, both also earning their Silver Awards! And all of us were Girl Scouts too. We often talk about how similar the goals and values are between Girl Scouts and sororities!
