Late Pledging
When i first came to college i didnt now much about the greek life. However after a little research i have came to be really interested in it. I currently am a freshman at unl and just finished my first semseter. This last week a friend of mine introduced me to a fraternity he currently is pledging in. The fraternity isnt really big but it is growing. After taking tour of the house and meeting most of the fraternity brothers i have gotten really interested in it.. I was invited to a cook out last week were i got to now more of the people in the house over a game of poker and beer. I was wondering how would i go about joining the fraternity. They did tell me they were looking for members. So Do i ask for a bid since its so late in the year or do i wait until they invite me in the frat.

Also, you don't just walk up and ask for a bid. They will offer a bid if they think you'd be a good fit. |
You should continue to get to know the people and wait until their next pledge class. Most fraternities have distinct pledge classes, and you'll need to wait for the next one (usually next semester). After the usual rush events, which you will hopefully be explicitly invited to if you're a likely fit, they'll decide who to issue bids to and then issue you a bid.
Getting a bid is like getting invited to a party: it's bad taste to ask for one. Until then, continue to get to know them better and hopefully make a few new friends. |
Should i just keep going to the house and getting to know the people, or should i just wait until im invited to more events thanks for the advice!!
