Good lawd that's a lot of money!!!
Why are GLO's so darn expensive? What are they paying for? In my late sorority it cost like $300 for the first semester and $150 for the rest of the semesters. They didn't even have a house nor a suite. And, wait there's more! They are the cheapest GLO on our campus and the sorority I want to join cost $40 a month! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

Well, $150 a semester is not a lot of money. Your dues pay your national per capita fee, which basically helps run the international office. This also helps to pay for programming the headquarters may offer to you during the semester... workshops, leadership consultants, and the like. Per capita fees are between 1/3 and 1/2 of $150. Your dues are also paying for your insurance. While you may not have a house or suite, you do have an organization and things can happen within that organization to require insurance. That insurance is NOT cheap.
So now what's left? Well, it depends on what fees you may have to pay to campus, the activities your chapter is paying for, the general operations of your chapter, etc. If you look at the big picture, it takes resources, and that's what dues are providing. |
Well, our money goes to international for stuff that needs to be done there, some goes to our foundation, some stays in the chapter so that we have money in our budgets. It all depends on how much your nat'l or intn'l feels it needs from each member and how much the chapter wants so it can have any money at all. If you are a local you don't have to give money to your national or international and you pretty much just shell out money on an "as needed basis" at least that is why I get from my friends in locals. 150 is cheap tho!!! I pay 190 and I know I am getting off cheap! I know girls who pay 500 EVERY semester!!

I don't see why you're complaining! $150 is soooo inexpensive compared to most GLO dues!
|
Are you kidding me????!!!!???? I would give anything to have paid what you pay/paid. That is really inexpensive. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif
Try not to stress about it and enjoy your time with your GLO. Remember that if you had went to another school you might be paying much, much, much, much more. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif: Greek Love, Christina http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |

I WISH my dues had been $150 a semester! They were more than double that per MONTH.

Um, 40 dollars a month is nothing. I pay 78 dollars per month plus social expences...
But to me, its worth every penny!! ------------------ DZ sisters never end! |
