Advice Needed

Hello, my Freshman daughter just went through rush week and did not receive a bid. She is heartbroken as she really wanted to be in a sorority. Her roommates all received bids and she is feeling so left out and rejected.:( I really don't know what happened and can't find the words to comfort her. To make things worse, I was in a sorority and always told her that it was going to be the time of her life....any advice would be welcomed......glad I found this site.

Welcome to life with an adult child. Listen to her, let her vent, but DO NOT try to "fix" it for her.

I guess it really is that simple..It was so much easier to fix their broken hearts when they were little. Thxs for your response.

When the time is right,

Let your daughter know that Panhellenic might have some groups who continue to recruit after formal recruitment, or will do so in the following semester. She needs to let Panhellenic know if she would be interested in the informal process as soon as possible if that's what she wants to do.

Did you daughter actually not receive a bid or did she drop out because she didn't like the options she had left?

Rejectment sucks doesn't it?

Didn't receive a bid...very small school and a lot of girls participating....I just never thought about the girls who didn't get in when I was involved in sorority life....I thought everyone got into a sorority just maybe not their first choice....
