I actually enjoy when people's stupid jabs, particularly when done on the dumbness that is facebook and twittter, come back to bite them on the ass.

He may not have intended to make a homophobic joke but we cannot prove the intent other than taking his word for it. However, we can damn sure prove the outcome. Shut up sometimes, Roland Martin and everyone else who feels the need to share too many of their thoughts.

What say you, GCers?

AGDLynn 02-08-2012 10:55 PM

Never heard of him.

dreamseeker 02-08-2012 11:00 PM

He deserved it. his comments promote homophobia and if he really thought that people would feel that he was just making jabs at soccer players he is too stupid for CNN anyway.

 to his wife for making it a racial issue.

DrPhil 02-08-2012 11:01 PM

That is unfortunate, AGDLynn.

I say that Roland Martin should have seen this coming. Didn't he learn from the whole to-do when he referred to APhiA as ZPhiB's "Father?" He's a mouthy one, that one. Obviously part of that is his job, but still...

While I'm not sure if what he said was deliberately homophobic, it smacked of that insecure masculinity that really bothers me.

This.

And I seriously do not get the point or the appeal of twittter.

I agree with the suspension. He's lucky he didn't lose his job.

He should have known better considering the other media reporters and commentators that have been fired lately for having the foot-in-mouth disease...ahem...Juan Williams.
