R.I.P. Don Cornelius ... :-(

Don Cornelius was found dead this morning from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 75 years old. :(

What?! :(

I had heard for years that he was sick, but this is really bad.

:( So sad.

Tom Joyner tried to dismiss this as being a suicide.

Did he explain why?

Someone from work just told me about it and I was actually coming on here to start a thread about it. Very sad. RIP.

News outlets are referring to it as an apparent suicide.

May his Soul!!!!!! rest in peace. I loved the guy with his deep voice. He was so cool.

Not sure what else it could be. According to the article, there was "no signs of foul play." Of course, a shooter could have left no evidence but without that evidence, it's not really a dismissal. More like a stating the obvious until something less obvious comes to light.

Don Cornelius did so much for so many people, and never really did get the credit he was due. I hope he's getting it now.

Recalling the local, live version shown in Chicago during early 1970's. Host used to ask small groups of dancers (just kids, even ten-year olds were on the show then) if their 'group' wanted to dance alone to one song. Three kids max to a 'group', as the dance floor was SOOO TINY. Fun to watch and learn new dance steps; Don was a great host.

Heaven just got way cooler. RIP Mr. Cornelius.

OMG, I can't imagine he would do this. Did he have something terminal?

RIP Don.

I couldn't believe the news this morning. I know I have mentioned on GC more than once that I am a huge fan of Soul Train Lines, and I was hoping this was another death hoax situation.

One of my favorite shared moments today was doing a Soul Train line with some people when we were exiting a room, and parting with "peace, love, and soul!"

One of my favorite songs performed on Soul Train - Vanity 6 "Nasty Girl"

Local news just had a segment on this. They showed a clip of a tribute soul train line taking place on Milwaukee Ave (organized on Facebook). Pretty cool tribute :)
