Who’s really to blame for outrageous fraternity hazing?

Sources inside The D have leaked to Dartblog an upcoming column that is sure to cause a storm of controversy. Andrew Lohse ‘12, who has been mentioned several times in this space (here, here and here), has submitted a column to The D that describes ongoing fraternity hazing practices in, shall we say, down-and-dirty detail.

Does this sort of situation really "bring up important questions about being a young person"? I mean, first, what does that even mean? Second, this is about as narrow a situation as one can imagine ... this isn't Lord of the Flies.

As an aside, a few acquaintances have spoken about their own hazing at some of the more, say, "hazing-friendly" universities in bygone days, and this guy's story tops them all. Since the Op-Ed is yet to be released, the guy doesn't show up in Dartmouth's directory currently, and there's some history behind his name/writing, I'd reserve judgment of any sort for a bit.
