NinjaPoodle needs new cell phone service
I was with Verizon for 10+ years and always on a 2 year contract. I'm looking for pre-paid and am considering Boost, Virgin or T-Mobil.
Anyone out there use prepaid and what do you think of your service? Dropped calls, coverage area, etc. Any extra/hidden charges or is it flat rate per..month, day etc.? And what about the phones for the particular service? I still have a flip-phone which I like. I don't need a smart phone/crackberry, etc. My main thing is good national coverage and decent customer service. I appreciate all info.:) |
Been on both sides, tried several prepaid services.
Looking at the fact that you left Verizon and prefer to keep your flip phone, I heavily recommend Page Plus Cellular. They are one of the cheapest prepaid providers available and resell Verizon when it comes to voice/texts (w/o data). That means that you get to keep your old phone and have essentially the same service minus roaming. Only minuses are confusing payment model, which you'll get used to, and less than nice customer service, which you hopefully won't need often since billing is basically out of the equation. If you pay by the minute, it ranges between $0.04 and $0.10 per minute depending on the card you use. The higher the reload, the cheaper it is. They also have monthly plans: $12/mo for 250min/250txt, $29.95/mo for 1200min/1200txt, $39.95/mo for "unlimited". T-Mobile prepaid offers an awesome deal if you use a lot of data. $30/mo for 100min/5GB, $50/mo for unlimited /w 100MB, $60/mo for unlimited /w 2GB. Those are my favorite two at the time. |
I have Boost Mobile and love it. Unlimited starts at $50, but a $5/month "shrinkage" kicks in every few months as long as you pay on time, which means eventually you can pay as little as $35/month for the same plan.

Thanks you guys. I'm checking out the page plus right now

Boost and Virgin are both on the Sprint network, so coverage should be the same
