spring rush at university of houston

hi everyone, im from university of houston. i finally make up my mind to rush for a sorority. from my observation, u of h is really not a big "greek-life" college. so i wonder if there is going to be a spring rush this year at all?(2012)

You need to talk to your Greek Life office on campus. And I believe you have about a mountain of misconceptions going on. If the numbers expressed in the NPC recruitment thread are accurate, every chapter on campus took a quota of 22 and chapter total is only 50. A good rule of thumb is a pledge class seems to be about 1/3 the size of the entire chapter. If this information is accurate, probably only a few chapters are going to need to pick up any girls in the spring, and those chapters you don't want are probably it.

Just because a Greek system doesn't resemble the University of Texas doesn't mean it isn't a strong, successful and SELECTIVE group. If you really want to join a sorority I'd start doing your homework and getting a lot more open minded about all 6 of those chapters.

Agreed that she needs to keep her options open, but UH is nowhere near UT w/r/t Greek life.

I'm sure you're correct, but that doesn't mean they're all just open for new members at any moment because they're so small and insignificant.

That's also true.

Contact the Greek Life office. We don't know that every member of every pledge class initiated. Chapters could have a few openings they don't necessarily want to advertise.

You should contact the Panhellenic office on campus to find out who (if any) will be hosting spring parties for pnm's. I'm guessing the web site won't be updated until late spring when they are gearing up for fall formal recruitment again.

thanks u all for replying. i emailed greek office but they never reply me. so far i know one out of six is going to have spring rush but im not sure the rest. of course im sure the greek sys is strong and all six sororities are good and i wont able to know which one fit me the best unless i get to know them. i will say i leave my option open and lets see what i will get.
btw UHDEEGEE you said 3 groups are NOT having spring recruitment, would u mind to tell me which 3 are they?

yeah i was just wishing they would. XD I believe they are not as big as some other sororities in other southern uni's, but i know they are an important part of the whole school and thats why i want to join them.

I'm sorry for responding so late; I don't check this site that often. I've sent you a PM.
