Recruitment with only 2 Panhel Sororities
 

Right now at my college, there are only two active Panhel sororities. Because of how small the Greek community is here on campus, we have always done informal recruitment because it just makes more sense. While we still want to continue with this style of recruitment, we wanted to show the bond between Panhel and host a "Meet the Panhel" event, or something of the like, where both sororities would be present and the girls could learn about both at one time and and meet everyone.

Do you think this is a good idea? Or do you have any other suggestions for combining Panhel into recruitment?

I think it's an excellent idea. I probably wouldn't call it panhel since that's jargon that the girls won't understand, but Meet the Greeks would be fine. If you share the love, both chapters should do better. Just make sure you set ground rules and use them to your best advantage. If the rules say 10 girls max from each chapter can represent, make sure you have your 10 sharpest, most enthusiastic, best talkers there. But don't cheat or do anything sleazy. You want girls to like you better, not dislike them most. And in a perfect world, the girls would rush you both and be happy with their outcome regardless.

I've been Panhellenic treasurer and president at a campus that also only has 2 panhel sororities, but we still did formal recruitment in the fall. We used to offer an Open House during the start of recruitment which was basically what you're describing (except with the rules of formal recruitment too). Each chapter had members present, one year we played board games together, and we always do a name game around the room and then Panhellenic does a presentation on Greek Life in general, and then each chapter is allowed 5-10 minutes for their presentation. Then we take names, numbers & email addresses. It usually goes over really well. =)
