How hard is it to get into an LSU Sorority PLEASE HELP

I was wondering how hard it is to get into a sorority at LSU? What usually happens during the process? Is there any hazing that goes on? Do alot of people get turned away? Also what are the best sororities around campus to pledge? What are some tips to make yourself a better pledge and to give yourself and advantage? Any comments and feedback would be much appreciated!!!

What's up with all the LSU questions tonght???? Here's the little bit of advice I can give as the mother of a LSU soroity member.
1. If you go in with an open mind you should find a sorority that you like. Do not go in thinking that you can only be in ABC or whatever.
2. I can honestly say that I have been to many panhellenic events with my daughter and I am in Baton Rouge a lot and it is very hard to stereotype the soroities at LSU. I have never seen one that I would call the pretty girls, nerdy girls, slutty girs etc. There seems to be equal maounts of all types of girls in all soroities.
3. Yes there are some sororities that are considered better ( won't nme them, sorry) but I don't see much difference honestly. The type of girls that seem to go through rush are all top girls from thier respective school. So in most cases every soroity has it share of former cheerleaders, valdictorains, class presidents, athletes, and just average nice girls. With 200 girls in each sorority you will find a home if you are open minded.
4. Make sure you have recs ( we had at least 2 for each soroity) and a great resume. Good grads and lots of activities.
Go in with a good attitude, have fun and remember that all 10 are great. Good luck !!!

Also never heard of any hazing. people do get cut but it mostly for no recs and bad grades

Thank you so much!! You were really helpful! My cousin gave me tips about the 4 B's to avoid which helped alot. I only ask about hazing because he also said when his girlfriend pledged they made the pledges wrestle gators in the bayous. I didn't believe him but I just wanted to check about hazing so I didn't go into the situation blind.

I want to be very open minded about the situation and see what all the houses have to offer and where I would fit best. Do you know who the best people would be to get rec's from?

No gator wrestling!!!!! PM if you have any other questions I will try to help.

LOL...you'd have to leave Baton Rouge to do any gator wrestling.

Please, please, please don't listen to ANYTHING this guy tells you. He was just pulling your chain to get you worried & it worked.

I know hahaha I just thought it was funny. I've known for a long time not to trust him.

Lots of misconceptions about Louisiana out there. When I moved here from Ky. I thought I would have to go everywhere in a boat. It is a great place with a great culture and LSU is a great school. You will enjoy it but I am sure you will be in for a big culture shock!!!

I travel to Shreveport 3 times a year from Omaha NE. I know it's not the same as living there but I'm not extremely uncomfortable about changes.

Most of my family is from Louisiana. So I'm not all that scared about attending LSU next fall

There are dozens of threads on here bout how to get recs. Do a search. The best people to get them from are people who know you personally so that thhey can give a good reference for you.

Tootpie2: Whether right or wrong, whatever school wins the BCS national championship sees a huge spike in applications the following year....

North Louisiana (where Shreveport is) =/= South Louisiana (where Baton Rouge is)

Have you ever been to Baton Rouge?
