Not an area where I have much to offer, but I'm thinking that spelling and punctuation would be a good place to start.

Hi Kenya :) I remember being in high school and dreaming about Alpha Kappa Alpha... now that I'm older (and still dreaming) I've learned a few little tricks that I hope you will find helpful. First, www.AKA1908.org will become your bff. Their website has loads of information about the organization such as their Founders, History, how where and when Alpha Kappa Alpha got started, a chapter locator, Qualifications, and even a checklist of documents and information that you will need for Rush. It briefly explains what MIP is (Membership Intake Process) and exactly what you will need to be considered for it. Second, POW (Pearls of Wisdom) is the rule book and first thread for this forum. Try to read it when you get a chance so that the moderators and members of the sorority will answer your question and so that people on GC will hopefully say nicer things ;). Thiridly, GPA and community service is very important to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. So try to keep your grades up and rake as many hours as you can. You can list CS up to two years prior to Rush on your application (per AKA1908.org). Read, and study as much as you can about Alpha Kappa Alpha and all of the other organizations listed under the Divine 9. A great book is "The Divine 9" by Lawrence C Ross. Oh!! Discretion is Key, so don't do or say anything that might be frowned upon.
Good Luck SisterFriend :) God Bless |
P.S... Its generally not polite wear or use the sororities colors when attending functions, forums etc, or to use the sorority's greek abreviated letters when you are not a member. Instead, you should try to say/spell the full greek name (Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha not XYZ, ABC) and never, ever, Ever, NEVER wear Pink or Green to a function. Discretion is Key :)
